Dr Halilovic-Pastuovic joins Josef Korbel School of International Studies

In October 2016 Dr Halilovic-Pastuovic joined the Sié Chéou-Kang Center for International Security and Diplomacy at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies as a Visiting Scholar where she will develop the GATED project in collaboration with Professor Timoty Sisk.

As the twenty-first century unfolds, armed conflict is on the decline, while other forms of organized and interpersonal violence—often stemming from economic, environmental, and social upheaval—have spread. Inadequate understanding of the changing trends in conflict and violence has often left advocacy and policy communities to meet twenty-first century security challenges with twentieth century theories, institutions, and tools.

The Sié Center's award winning faculty is focused on different dimensions of this new security environment. Their many research projects aim to understand the evolving set of drivers, actors, and modalities of twenty-first century violence and conflict. The centre fosters a research community focused on managing violence and enhancing resilience at the local, national, regional, and global levels.

Sie centre unique research focus combined with a commitment to integrating teaching, research and practical problem solving has already attracted an internationally renowned faculty and stellar set of Sié Fellows.
